Not too long ago, Arnau Tenas was one of the top goalkeeping prodigies in La Masia, with many even labelling him as the future replacement for Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

However, Tenas’ path to Barcelona’s first team came to an abrupt end as he joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer – a move that surprised many.

Tenas blamed Barcelona for his surprise move to PSG in 2023, claiming that the club did offer him a renewal.

Tenas open to Barcelona return

However, in a recent interaction, Tenas has clarified that he holds no grudges against Barcelona and is, in fact, open to a return to Catalonia.

When asked about the prospect of a Barça return, Tenas said (h/t Que Thi Jugues), “Yes, why not? Barcelona will always be my home, hopefully.”

However, he refused to dismiss the possibility of a long stay at PSG, as he said: “But what if at PSG I feel super comfortable? I will continue because I love PSG. You can never close any door.”

The goalkeeper’s comments come on the back of a relatively muted start to the season with PSG.

Even after winning the Olympic gold medal with Spain in the summer, Tenas has yet to feature in a single game for PSG this season, though perhaps understandably so as the French champions already boast the services of Gianluigi Donnarumma.

However, it is perhaps fair to say Tenas’ stint at PSG has been disappointing, with the goalkeeper playing in only six competitive matches since joining the club last year.

A return to Barcelona, therefore, could make sense from the player’s perspective. However, the Catalans, too, have Ter Stegen and Inaki Pena as the two main goalkeepers in the team.

Despite Ter Stegen’s age, the German is likely to continue in the years to come while Pena could be a fierce competitor for Tenas.

In any case, the goalkeeping department is not one of Barcelona’s pressing concerns right now.
