For the second time at the FIFA Club World Cup, Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes was left on the bench as an unused substitute last night against Juventus.

A similar scenario had unfolded in the Merengues’ second Group H game against Pachuca, after he started the opener against Al-Hilal.

The 24-year-old attacker did feature for a little under half an hour in the final group game vs RB Salzburg, but remained on the bench in the Round of 16 clash last night, sparking more speculations over his future.

PSG launch a move

Now, according to Fichajes, PSG have made a move to try and sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid this summer.

Having won the UEFA Champions League last season, the Parisian giants are looking to further improve their squad.

And manager Luis Enrique has made his position clear to the PSG board: Rodrygo must be one of the top priority signings to maintain the club’s ambition.

The French champions see the 24-year-old as a player who fits perfectly into its attacking structure, where stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue often rotate positions.

Rodrygo’s ability to operate across the frontline makes him a highly attractive option for Enrique.

Exit on the cards

Rodrygo, for his part, is open to seeking a new destination, having lost prominence since Xabi Alonso took over the Real Madrid bench.

His goal is to arrive at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in top form, and he knows that a secondary role at Real Madrid could jeopardise his place in the Brazilian national team.

As per the report, Real Madrid have set a price of around €80 million euros, but in Paris there is confidence that a more favourable agreement can be reached, especially if the deal is finalised after the Club World Cup.

Under contract until 2028, Rodrygo remains one of the most valuable assets on the market, and PSG are determined to make a strong push for him.
