Paris Saint-Germain lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy for the first time in their history on Saturday, after cruising to a stunning 5-0 victory against Inter Milan.
A brace from Desiré Doué and goals from Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu guided Luis Enrique’s side to glory in Munich. Here’s how we rated Les Parisiens‘ performances.
Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6
In truth, Donnarumma didn’t have all too much to do between the sticks on Saturday – but when he was called upon, the Italian shotstopper performed his duties well.
Achraf Hakimi – 8
The Moroccan got the party started in Munich when he bagged the first goal inside the opening quarter-hour and continued to be a livewire throughout, bombing up and down the flank.
Marquinhos – 7
With the exception of a few blips in the first half when Marcus Thuram had him beaten for pace, Marquinhos was solid defensively and read the game well to allow Hakimi to push forwards often.
William Pacho – 8
Physically and mentally strong throughout, Pacho did well to keep the ball in play before PSG scored their second goal, and was defensively solid throughout the match.
Nuno Mendes – 7 (subbed off 78′)
Not quite as impressive as Hakimi on the opposite flank, but kept Inter’s Denzel Dumfries at bay throughout which is an impressive feat given the Dutchman’s contributions this season.
João Neves – 7 (subbed off 84′)
Intelligence personified. Pressed well and was excellent without the ball.
Vitinha – 8
Solid defensively but his linkup play with Doué was particularly impressive in Munich, having teed up the youngster in the buildup to the first goal before registering the assist for his second goal.
Fabian Ruiz – 7
Popped up absolutely everywhere and put a solid shift in throughout.
Desiré Doué – 9 (subbed off 67′)
After a performance of that calibre, it’s quite hard to wrap your head around the fact that Doué is still a few days short of his 20th birthday. Quick on his feet and heading back to Paris as the first man to bag three goal contributions in a Champions League final, Doué is certainly one to watch over the coming years.
Ousmane Dembélé – 8
Although Dembélé wasn’t able to add to his impressive goal tally, the Frenchman provided the assist for Kvaratskhelia’s goal in the 73rd minute and was crucial in the buildup to Doué’s second strike.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – 8 (subbed off 84′)
The Georgian was far from clinical and squandered a multitude of shots but eventually found the back of the net inside the final 20 minutes.
Bradley Barcola – 7 (subbed on 67′)
Missed a couple of great chances, though with PSG already leading by three goals when he was subbed on, they didn’t prove too costly. Redeemed himself somewhat when he teed up Mayulu for the fifth and final goal of the night.
Lucas Hernandez – 6 (subbed on 78′)
A short cameo at the end of the match, with no real moments of note.
Gonçalo Ramos – 6 (subbed on 84′)
A short cameo at the end of the match, with no real moments of note.
Warren Zaïre-Emery – 6 (subbed on 84′)
A short cameo at the end of the match, with no real moments of note.
Senny Mayulu – 8 (subbed on 84′)
Two minutes is all Mayulu needed to make his mark in Munich. The youngster has played less than 1,000 minutes in all competitions for PSG this season but has announced himself to the world with a tidy finish in the 86th minute to ensure les Parisiens now hold the record for the largest winning margin in a Champions League final.
