PSG Left Real Madrid Star ‘Traumatized,’ Causing Recent Struggles, Claims Pundit | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé has had a challenging 2024 on a personal level as he failed to make an impact in the UEFA Champions League semifinal as Paris Saint-Germain fell to Borussia Dortmund and the 25-year-old had an underwhelming performance at UEFA Euro 2024.

During this international break, the Frenchman again failed to make an impact for Les Bleus as they fell 3-1 to Italy on Matchday 1 of the UEFA Nations League. With Mbappé’s run of concerning performances, there are questions over whether the player has already peaked.

RMC Sport’s Denis Charvet stated that the player many see out on the pitch is no longer the Mbappé many grew accustomed to watching at the club and international level.

“I don’t recognize Mbappé anymore,” Charvet said on Les Grandes Gueules du Sport (h/t Le10Sport). “It feels like he’s somewhere else, not on the field, not off it—just nowhere. I think what he’s been through over the past year or over the past two years at PSG has traumatized him. He’s not the same Mbappé we used to know.”

Mbappé did get off to a slow start with Real Madrid but scored a brace against Real Betis heading into the international break. It will be interesting to see whether that’s a sign of positive things to come or if these concerns will continue to grow.
