Paris Saint-Germain have delayed their return to first-team training by two days, L’Équipe understands. Luis Enrique’s side will now return on the 6th August, rather than the 4th, as initially planned, leaving PSG with just one week of training ahead of their UEFA Super Cup encounter against Tottenham Hotspur.
It was a long and gruelling season for PSG, one which only reached its conclusion on 13th July. A season of highs, marked by triumphs in the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions, ended on a disappointing note for Les Parisiens as they lost to Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final.
Some players’ trips back from that tournament in the USA were delayed and as a result, their return date has been pushed back. It means that the PSG squad will have just one week of training ahead of their Super Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur on 13th August. Four days later, Les Parisiens will get their Ligue 1 campaign underway with a trip to face FC Nantes.
