After a bright start to his spell with Wolve, Gary O’Neill is in trouble. His team have just one win in their last 20, the definition of relegation form.
The vultures are circling too – Wolves have accumulated some good players in their most recent extended spell in the top flight, and many of them would move on if they go down. Among those players is Rayan Ait-Nouri, the attacking left wing back who has been able to impress despite his team’s struggles.
Molineux News writes that Liverpool and Chelsea are both keen on the former Angers player, who joined Wolves in 2020 for just £10m.
Still just 23, the dynamic Algerian ticks a lot of boxes for Chelsea and their model for signing players. The only potential issue we can see is competition from the likes of the Reds or other teams across Europe. He has already been linked with us and others before.

While Chelsea’s squad really felt like it was properly filled out this summer, with few gaps and enough depth to play two separate teams, in the league and cup, there will always be a search for upgrades, and full back is definitely an area where we can see work being done.
Ait-Nouri therefore becomes a really interesting option, especially if Wolves go down and have to let him go on the cheap.
