Norwich City and Sunderland clash this Tuesday at Carrow Road for Matchweek 41 of the EFL Championship.
Norwich City currently have 52 points and lie firmly in mid-table No Man's Land after their 2-1 reverse last time out against Plymouth Argyle, a result that dealt a killer blow to their play-off hopes this term.
Sunderland, meanwhile, have won 75 points to date and remain in fourth a 0-1 success against West Brom in their last clash.
The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 2-1 Sunderland win.
Playmaker Stats on Norwich: Norwich manager Johannes Hoff Thorup talked about the bigger picture after the Canaries' play-off aspirations took a nosedive courtesy of their defeat to bottom club Plymouth Argyle last weekend. A dodgy run of form that has seen the Canaries win just one of their last five league outings has seemingly scuppered their chances of making the top six, but they are still a very dangerous side on their day with some proven quality at the top end of the pitch.
Defensively, however, Norwich have struggled for much of the campaign and they are likely to struggle against a Sunderland side that seem further down the line in terms of their football project under Regis Le Bris. Norwich have been prolific at home this season, however, and a high-scoring draw doesn't look a bad shout in terms of a prediction.
Graham Falk (What The Falk Podcast - Sunlun AFC): Saturday's gritty 1-0 win at West Brom was our fourth win in the last six - are we hitting form at the right time? There's been a lot of talk about momentum and how to build it up ahead of an almost certain playoff battle for Sunderland in these last few weeks, and while the performances haven't been brilliant, we've not conceded and beaten two pretty well drilled teams without a great deal of fuss.
Norwich are a different kettle of fish yet again. Embroiled in a halfway house sort of season, where they are trying to build something fresh with a new head coach and invest more so in the youth - they don't look like they'll trouble the playoffs this year. It's a tricky game for us, but once we maybe should consider placing less pressure on.
We've already lost another player until the end of the season in the shape of Romaine Mundle, and we really can't afford too many more injuries. We've already done without Dan Ballard, Dennis Cirkin and Enzo Le Fee in recent weeks, so we don't need any more. Perhaps it is time to freshen it up a little, worry less about momentum and worry more about ensure our players are all as fit as possible heading into those crucial playoff games.
