Leeds United Women host AFC Fylde in their final FA WNL Division One North clash of 2024, looking to cement their spot at the top of the tree over the Christmas period.
Stretching back to September, the Whites have been in irrepressible form, recording seven victories in a row which has seen them climb to the summit of the standings at the campaign’s half-way stage.
Last time out, Simon Wood’s side proved too strong for Norton & Stockton Ancients, putting in a professional display in what was a feisty encounter on Teesside to run out 3-0 winners.
Quick thinking from in-form forward Amy Woodruff saw the striker react quickly to bundle home an opener, before midfielder Kath Smith was well placed at the back post to fire in a second, with Woodruff grabbing her second and the side’s third – her ninth of the season so far – in the dying minutes.
The Whites’ haul of 25 points from 11 matches, including eight victories, leaves them leading the teams, 18 points clear of bottom-placed AFC Fylde.
The Coasters have struggled for form since their relegation from the Northern Premier Division last term, winning just two matches to date.
Most recently, the Lancashire outfit were beaten 4-1 by Barnsley on home soil, extending their losing run to four matches.
The sides met earlier in the season at Kellamergh Park, where goals from Sian Gibrill-Keating, Smith and Sarah Danby fired the Whites to a 3-1 victory.
Action from the Bannister Prentice Stadium gets underway at 2pm.
