Famously the press box is directly behind the home team bench at Stamford Bridge, so we always get some pretty good insight from journalists about what’s going on in the Chelsea dugout.
As you can imagine, with the team 2-0 down to Ipswich in a must win game at home, things aren’t pretty.
We all heard the mighty booing at half time, but the Daily Mail’s Kieran Gill, who is right up behind Enzo Maresca and his staff, say it was even worse than that.
“Enzo Maresca been taking some flak from Chelsea supporters around the press box,” the reporter wrote, and we can imagine that flak is only going to grow more intense.
This was a must win game, yet Maresca’s team have come out lazy, slow, uninspired and sloppy. There can be no excuses for that, from the players or the coach. Champions League football is evaporating before our eyes from a team which was just a win off top at Christmas.

It’s criminal for there to be no improvement in a team for 6 months in any context – but in the context of this being a manager’s first season it’s even worse. They’re not only not improving – they’re getting worse.
A lot of our struggles since January was put down to the injury to Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke, but they’re here today, fresh and rested, and the team are still being embarrassed by a team about to go down – for the SECOND time this season.
This group of players are all very positive about their coach and talk him up a lot. We’re just sadly not seeing the results of that.
