Coach Thiago Motta, Samuel Mbangula and Pierre Kalulu spoke to the press after Juventus’ 2-0 win against AC Milan on Matchday 21 of the Serie A season.
“Today we were better than our opponent, I think tonight's victory is deserved. We have to improve and correct some mistakes we make during matches. But we were good on the pitch, it's nice to win a game against an opponent with great players and an experienced coach. They are three important points in front of our fans, whom I thank once again for the support they give to this team. There are many ways to get to both boxes and it is in those areas of the pitch that matches are decided, today we were good at scoring goals with quality, and not conceding any with an aggressive defensive display as a team. [Samuel] Mbangula is playing well, he, like the others, knows our philosophy: it is not the quantity of minutes on the pitch but quality. And he is doing that very well, today he was decisive not only for his goal but also for the second one. Winning is always good because it brings enthusiasm, it brings extra motivation for everyone. We have to be happy with the result.”
“The whole team put in a great performance. We did well and deserved this victory. I'm happy with the goal, I like scoring in front of our fans. Now I hope to score goals away from home too, if I can score, I want to do it all the time, I work hard for it every day.”
“When our teammates press up the pitch in front of our defenders, it means they give the opponents less time to think and to relax on the ball. That makes it much easier for us to anticipate the play because we can be more aggressive, and I don't need to drop too deep and I can attack the ball more easily. In the last few games there was more pace, there were more duels won, but in the end we still played well with the same attitude. Clearly when you win 2-0, the last 10 minutes are calmer and today the two-goal lead helped. I work a lot to stay fit and go out on the pitch at 100 per cent physically, it's the result of a lot of work. When you're defending, it's nice not to concede a goal, it gives you confidence for the upcoming games.”
