The President of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza, has confirmed his intention to hold talks with Robert Lewandowski following the striker’s decision to step away from international duty while Michal Probierz remains in charge of the national team.
Speaking to Przegląd Sportowy (h/t AS), Kulesza said he hopes to meet with both Lewandowski and Probierz at the same time in an effort to resolve the growing tensions.
“There will be a meeting with Robert Lewandowski. If possible, it will involve all three of us—me, the coach, and Robert.
“At the moment, we have a bit of time since there are no matches scheduled in the coming week,” said Kulesza.
Lewandowski, now 36, announced he would not represent Poland while Probierz remains in charge. The decision came after the national team manager removed him as captain, handing the armband to Piotr Zielinski.

In a candid interview last weekend, Lewandowski accused Probierz of breaking their personal agreement and said he felt betrayed.
“He betrayed my trust,” the Barcelona forward stated, adding, “His behaviour surprised me.”
Despite the controversy, Kulesza confirmed he has yet to speak directly with any of the players about the situation and dismissed any immediate plans to change the coaching staff.
“There is no discussion at this moment about finding a new manager,” he clarified.
The timing of the internal fallout could not be worse for Poland. After suffering a 2-1 defeat to Finland on Tuesday, the national team has slipped to third place in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group, outside of the automatic qualification spots.
With tensions high and qualification hopes in jeopardy, the upcoming talks could prove critical for both Lewandowski’s international future and the direction of Poland’s national team.
