So I have had a look at all 20 Premier League clubs this season…

We are now eight months into the 2024/25 season, this is how many matches each Premier League team has won (and lost), in Premier League AND domestic cup competitions (as of the morning of Thursday 3 April 2025):

27 and 4 Liverpool

24 and 10 Newcastle United

21 and 8 Forest

20 and 6 Arsenal

20 and 10 Man City

18 and 9 Villa

17 and 9 Brighton

17 and 10 Palace

16 and 10 Chelsea

16 and 11 Fulham

15 and 12 Bournemouth

15 and 15 Brentford

15 and 17 Tottenham

14 and 15 Man U

11 and 19 Wolves

10 and 16 West Ham

9 and 12 Everton

7 and 23 Leicester

6 and 19 Ipswich

6 and 26 Southampton

As you can see above, when it comes to domestic competitions this season, Newcastle United are second most successful, when it comes to winning football matches.

It is still only Liverpool who have won more domestic matches this season than Eddie Howe’s side.

The gap remains at three, after Wembley and then last night’s respective wins over Everton and Brentford. Plus, Newcastle have one more Premier League match to play compared to the scousers.

Newcastle now with three more wins than Forest and four more than Arsenal and Man City.

United then with six more than Villa and seven or more than the rest.

Yet even before that week when winning against West Ham and Liverpool, you bizarrely had some Newcastle United fans still determined to make out that this is some kind of disappointing season, Eddie Howe somehow having underachieved.

When it is the exact opposite of that, Eddie Howe performing minor miracles against the odds, the same as the last two seasons.

Now having won a Cup Final and in fifth, whilst if winning the game in hand, Newcastle United would be fourth in the Premier League!

To put this into proper context, quite incredible the number of Newcastle United domestic wins this season, compare it to the past:

14 wins – 2019/20

14 wins – 2020/21

13 wins – 2021/22

24 wins – 2022/23

23 wins – 2023/24

24 wins – 2024/25 (with nine matches still to go!)
