In Arsenal's 5-0 thrashing of Leeds on Saturday evening, it was surprisingly their flying right-back who did much of the damage.

With Bukayo Saka ahead of him and Viktor Gyökeres leading the line at home for the first time, many expected the main attacking influence to come from them.

And while both men did get on the scoresheet, it was Timber who was the real star of the show with an outstanding outing.

By the time all was said and done, he'd registered two goals and a further assist to help his side maintain their perfect start to the campaign on his first start.

He started the scoring with a close range header from a corner as the Gunners' set-piece prowess came to the fore again before his perfectly weighted through ball for Saka allowed him to drill home emphatically.

Timber made it a hat-trick of goal involvements in the second half with one of the scrappiest goals you'll see this season, eventually prodding home from another corner following a melee inside the penalty area.

"It was a beautiful day!" the delighted Dutchman told Viaplay afterwards. "It feels a bit weird to be scoring two goals and then the camera is following you everywhere. I'll have to get used to it!

"I'm really happy with this win. I had my family in the crowd too. It is always special to play in front of them so to score is really nice. It was a long summer of rehabbing for me and I'm glad the hard work paid off."

With his injury issues seemingly finally behind him, this could now be the beginning of a long and successful Arsenal career.
