Is Ange Postecoglou debunking the Spursy narrative?

Spurs produced a stunning second-half fightback to thrash Aston Villa 4-1 on Sunday, emerging as a team transformed after the break. Trailing to Morgan Rogers’ opener, Spurs staged a turnaround to earn a comfortable win over their top-four rivals.

Aston Villa had lost just once in the Premier League this season but struggled to live with Spurs in the second half. Spurs have now won three of their last four games after going a goal behind and 10 Premier League games in which they’ve trailed since the start of last season – no team in the division has managed more.

Player of the Week

The queue of clubs tracking Antoine Semenyo might just have grown a little longer this weekend. Semenyo has started the season in fine form for Bournemouth but produced his best performance yet in the 2-1 win over Manchester City.

He tormented the depleted champions with powerful ball-carrying, immaculate technique and work rate, ending the contest with the most duels won (11) and most dribbles (3) after opening the scoring on the south coast.

Few players will give Pep Guardiola’s side a tougher time this season.

Goal of the Week

What a way to mark your 100th appearance for the club.

Leif Davis was one of the standout players in Ipswich Town’s promotion and scored his first Premier League goal during the club’s 1-1 draw with Leicester this weekend.

This is an absurdly good goal from the left-back, the sort of technique that helped him contribute 18 assists in the Championship last season.

Save of the Week

Southampton snapped up Aaron Ramsdale from the Arsenal bench in the summer, handing the England international the chance to play regular first-team football.

Russell Martin admitted it was a tough task to persuade Ramsdale to swap North London for a potential relegation battle, but he will be delighted to have done so after this weekend’s performance.

Ramsdale made a string of saves as Southampton beat Everton 1-0 to claim their first win of the season, with the best of the lot this effort to deny Michael Keane. A good goalkeeper can make the world of difference.

Stat of the Week

Manchester United remain rooted in the bottom half after the club’s worst start to a season in the Premier League era.

It’s the club worst start to a campaign since 1986/87, when the Red Devils sacked their underperforming manager and brought in an exciting new coach with a track record of success in another league.

Ruben Amorim will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of a certain Sir Alex Ferguson…
