Manchester City will aim to get their season back on track when they face Aston Villa at Villa Park this weekend.
Aston Villa head into this match hoping to snatch the three points and overtake Man City in the league standings. While Villa charted a three-game winning streak ahead of their last match and were on course to add a fourth to that run, Nottingham Forest jeopardised their charge. Jhon Duran’s 63rd-minute winner gave the visitors a lead to defend but things collapsed for them late in the game when strikes from Nikola Milenkovic and Anthony Elanga handed the Midlands outfits the victory. Unai Emery’s men have now lost four of their last seven league matches but they boast an unbeaten home record in their previous seven league fixtures.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are still healing from their wounds after throwing away the match against neighbourhood rivals Manchester United. It has been an enduring season for the Cityzens and the defeat to The Red Devils was another humiliation piled on them. Josko Gvardiol’s first-half goal seemed to be enough for Pep Guardiola’s men but United mastered a turnaround through the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo within 54 seconds in the dying moments of the derby. Guardiola is expected to start Jeremy Doku ahead of Jack Grealish for the upcoming contest. Rico Lewis could start the match as he returns from a suspension.
Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Digne; Kamara, Tielemans; Cash, Rogers, McGinn; Watkins
Manchester City (4-1-4-1): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Gvardiol, Lewis; Kovacic; Silva, De Bruyne, Foden, Doku; Haaland.
