It ended up being a frustrating evening for Sergio Conceicao as AC Milan squandered chance after chance against Cagliari. Several players could have done much better and below are the ratings for the Rossoneri.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out how we decide the player ratings. From the scale to what affects the rating, we have compiled everything there.

Starting XI

Maignan (6): He made an absolutely stunning save at the end of the first half, denying Felici what looked like a certain goal. However, after the opener in the second half, he made a big mistake and it cost Milan the win in the end. It was such an easy save to make, but he still gets a pass here because the first save was so good (and saved Milan from conceding earlier).

Calabria (7 – MOTM): Seeing as most of the attackers plus the midfield struggled this evening, giving him the award is a no-brainer. It was a very good performance in both phases of the game and he certainly showed that he at least should compete for the starting spot. Hopefully, he can continue like this.

Tomori (6): He struggled a bit with his positioning at the start of the game, but managed to recover and had a few good interventions later on. When you consider the fact that Cagliari had just two shots on target, the defenders must have done something right.

Thiaw (6.5): Just like his colleague, he did everything he could on the goal and defended well otherwise. The German was also bold with his passing, which we saw after almost every game, and that is so crucial for Milan.

Hernandez (6): He did very well on the goal with the cross for Pulisic, and he had a couple of efforts blocked tonight. That being said, he was far from brilliant in attack and the feeling is that he could have done better.

Musah (6): The American had some good runs forward and showed that he’s comfortable on the ball, not afraid to stay close to the opponent even in possession. It wasn’t anything amazing but he also wasn’t poor, so a pass here seems appropriate.,

Fofana (4.5): This is the lowest score we have given him, and it feels very justified. In addition to struggling in the build-up, failing to pick out the key passes, he also had several shots from distance that weren’t successful. Of course, the worst part came just before Cagliari’s goal with the misplaced pass and the unwillingness to track back, giving up instead.

Pulisic (5.5): He did well on the goal, and was perhaps unlucky not to score himself, but he missed a tremendous chance to give Milan the lead again. It was one of those that he converts nine times out of times, and unfortunately tonight that ended up being fatal.

Reijnders (5.5): The poor run of form continues for him. It’s been a strange few last games as it seems he’s struggling to find his role under Conceicao. We can only hope that it will get better but tonight he didn’t have much of an impact.

Leao (5): He skied a few shots and didn’t have any success in the 1v1s. He keeps attempting crosses from stand-still as well and they never seem to work. He should be running at the defence with speed and then cross instead, but he rarely did tonight.

Morata (6.5): The Spaniard worked hard for the team in both phases, as always, and was at the right place at the right time on the goal. It secured Milan a point so that’s important, but he also had moments where he could have done better.

Substitutes

Jimenez (5.5): He added acceleration on the right-hand side, that’s for sure, and perhaps should have had an assist for Abraham. He was also brought down on the edge of the box at one point, but the referee somehow didn’t blow his whistle. A misplaced pass at the end, but he still added something to the game.

Abraham (4.5): Two big chances missed, need we say more? The second one really should have been put away, following a very good pass by Morata. Milan cannot afford those misses.

Omoregbe (N/A): We didn’t see enough to give him a rating.
