Pinnock wins Brentford Supporters' Player of the Year | OneFootball

Ethan Pinnock, Vitaly Janelt and Yoane Wissa were the winners at Brentford's 2023/24 end-of-season awards.

With one game left of the Bees' Premier League campaign, Thomas Frank's side currently sit 16th and have secured their top-flight status for another term.

While a number of players could have won awards for their contributions during the season, the winners of the first team, B team and women's prizes have been revealed...

Supporters' Player of the Year

Ethan Pinnock

Ethan Pinnock has been voted the Supporters' Player of the Year after a fantastic season at the heart of Brentford's defence.

The centre-back has played 28 times this season, helping the Bees to keep six clean sheets, while also scoring twice.

One of those goals was the opening strike against Chelsea in a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge, with the other coming on his return from injury in the emphatic 5-1 victory at Luton Town last month.

He has been his ever-reliable self, using his pace, strength and aerial ability to dominate centre-forwards and lead from the back for Thomas Frank's side.

The centre-back has made the fifth-most clearances in the division (197) and won the seventh-most aerial duels (113).

Pinnock has also displayed his exceptional on-the-ball ability - Rolls-Royce defender is an understatement at times - with the 30-year-old consistently and impressively progressing the ball with powerful dribbles or pinpoint passing.

After winning the award, he said: "It feels really good. I'm a little bit surprised, having been injured for a few games, I wasn't fully expecting it, but the fans make it a great experience playing in front of them every week.

"It's always a plus, as a player, you always want the fans to like you when you're going out there and putting everything on the line and giving 100 per cent, so for that to be reciprocated is a great feeling."

Players' Player of the Year

Vitaly Janelt

Brentford midfielder Vitaly Janelt has won the Players' Player of the Year award after an incredible season in the centre of the park for the Bees.

Janelt has featured in every Premier League game this season, contributing three assists, and he also captained the side for the 2-1 away defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The German has shown his versatility throughout the campaign, playing as a no.6, a no.8 and even at left-back as the west Londoners struggled with injuries earlier in the season.

His tenacity, consistency and commanding nature have been crucial, especially in the absence of club captain Christian Nørgaard, and Janelt is now one of the leading voices in the dressing room.

Janelt said: "I'm very proud. It's been a difficult season, there have been lots of injuries in the squad, but I'm delighted to play another season in the Premier League."

He added: "I started 36 out of 37 games, coming on as a sub in the other, so playing on Saturday and playing every single game this season would make me happy. It's a big thing; it's not easy to play the whole season, especially in the Premier League.

"Next season, I just want to keep up the consistency. I've played loads of positions this season: centre-back, left-back, left wing-back, no.6, no.8, so I just want to keep trying to play games for this football club."

Goal of the Season

Yoane Wissa

Yoane Wissa's strike against Chelsea in Brentford's 2-2 draw earlier this campaign has won the Goal of the Season award.

With the Bees having come from behind to equalise thanks to Mads Roerslev's strike, the hosts were in the ascendancy at Gtech Community Stadium.

Wissa fed the ball out to the left to Sergio Reguilón, whose whipped cross into the six-yard box was headed away.

As Frank Onyeka tried to retrieve the clearance, he stretched but could only kick the ball up into the air, with Wissa lurking around the penalty spot.

The DR Congo international leapt into the air, propelling himself off his left foot and struck with his right in a scissor-kick fashion, which saw the ball fly into the bottom corner.

Wissa said: "I'm very proud, I'm very happy. It means a lot to me and a lot to my family.

"I don't think I'll score one better than that! You can try and try and try and not score one like this, but this one went in - and you don't score a goal like that every day!

"I've watched it back, honestly, about 100 times! I keep showing it to my son and he tries it at home as well. It's a goal you can watch and enjoy every time."

B team Player of the Year

Val Adedokun

Val Adedokun has picked up Brentford B's Player of the Year, after another fantastic season for Neil MacFarlane's side.

With a number of players from the 2022/23 Premier League Cup-winning squad leaving on loan, Adedokun stepped up and delivered consistent performances, becoming a reliable presence in the backline for the B team.

The defender played 34 times in the 2023/24 season, as he captained the team for the season.

Adedokun also found the net in important games, opening the scoring in the 3-2 win against Strasbourg at Wheatsheaf Park. He also scored the decisive goal in a Premier League Cup game against Leicester.

This season was his third in red and white and he celebrated his 21st birthday in February by signing a new deal, which will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2026.

B team Players' Player of the Year

Ethan Brierley

Ethan Brierley has won Brentford B's Players' Player of the Year.

Brierley joined the B team in the summer of 2023 from Rochdale, having made 25 league appearances in the 2022/23 campaign for them in Sky Bet League Two, where he netted twice and made six assists.

He has built on his budding reputation with a solid debut season under Neil MacFarlane, playing in a variety of roles in the middle of the park.

The midfielder has been one of the ever-presents for the B team this season, playing more than 30 games this season in all competitions. He also made his first-team debut for the Bees in an EFL Cup fixture against Newport County.

He has contributed in the goalscoring department too, finding the net against Hitchin Town and Rangers B.

Brentford Women Player of the Year

Nikki Woods

Nikki Woods collected the Brentford Women Player of the Year award following an exceptional season on the left wing.

Scoring 16 times in all competitions, Woods has netted some important goals for the women’s first team this season.

A standout performance from the winger came in the 4-3 loss to Southampton Women in the FA Cup first round.

Brentford forged an unbelievable comeback in front of their home crowd, after finding themselves 3-0 down in the opening 35th minute. Woods was involved in all three goals to level the game, scoring twice and assisting once as the Bees took the match to extra-time, before a late Southampton goal saw the visitors go through.

Her pacy and skilful performances also helped Karleigh Osborne’s side to a Capital Cup triumph and a second-place finish in the league with the Trophy Cup final still to play.

Brentford Women B team Player of the Year

Karen Abou-Abdallah

Karen Abou-Abdallah picked up the Women’s B team Player of the Year award, with her consistent performances in midfield helping the Bees to a league title.

The Greater London Division One North champions won 15 of their 18 matches to secure promotion into the Premier Division.

The vice-captain was a standout performer for Tommy Ryan-Maynards side, with the midfielder displaying excellent leadership skills throughout the campaign.

Brentford Women Supporters' Player of the Year

Chloe Logie

Chloe Logie has won the Women’s Supporters' Player of the Year award, after another astounding season in front of goal for the first team.

Bettering last season's goal tally of 36, the striker has netted an incredible 51 times so far this term, with a cup final still to play on Sunday.

The 18-year-old put on an outstanding performance in the side’s 14-0 win over Camden and Islington United earlier in the season, netting eight times in the game.
