RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has landed in Manchester ahead of finalising his blockbuster transfer to Manchester United.
After days of battling Newcastle for Sesko, United finally succeeded in reaching a full agreement for the striker.
Newcastle lodged a higher bid for Sesko and offered him significantly more lucrative wages than United, but the Slovenian still rejected them in favour of sealing a switch to Old Trafford.
United are expected to fork out an initial £66.3m (€76.5m) and a further £7.37m (€8.5m) in performance-related add-ons.
His arrival will take the Red Devils’ spending to a possible £214m, after the signings of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo.
Sesko will be a key player under Amorim, likely being a mainstay in the front three alongside Cunha and Mbeumo as United aim to be more dangerous in the final third after a goal-shy 2024/25 campaign.
Earlier this evening, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano released a picture of Sesko and his agent, Elvis Basanović, inside a jet on their way to United. Romano noted that Sesko had the option of travelling to United on Friday morning but he insisted on flying to England immediately after the two clubs reached an agreement.
United’s plan is for Sesko to have his medical and sign his contract on Friday, before then being unveiled to the Old Trafford crowd on Saturday, just before the pre-season clash against Fiorentina.
New photos have now surfaced showing Sesko shortly after his arrival in Manchester.
According to Samuel Luckhurst, Sesko avoided being photographed before officially being announced but videos and pictures of him have still surfaced on social media.
Turning out for United will mark Sesko’s first professional appearance for a club outside the Red Bull network.
He joined RB Salzburg as a teenager from his native Slovenia and impressed for the side, earning himself a high-profile switch to Leipzig.
The 22-year-old notched 21 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions last term.
