Roberto Piccoli is having his most consistent season yet after dealing with a few injuries in the past. He has appeared in every match so far and has hit the net seven times, which is a personal best. He spoke about his campaign and more to TLN TV Serie A host Steven Moore on YouTube.
“Davide Nicola is helping me grow in many aspects, especially in being the only striker, interplaying with my teammates, and finishing. I’m focused on the daily work rather than on my numbers. The good of the side is the most important thing. Then, I have to be ready to help it with my goals if possible. We all have to be compact to bring results to this club.”
Piccoli addressed his past difficulties.
“When you are young, you have to cut your teeth a little in Serie and learn to live with the problems you might encounter. I suffered major injuries and lost almost two years combined because of them. That’s part of the growing process and also helps you mentally. It makes you understand your body. I think I’m on the right track now. I’m working well and feeling fine physically and with the rest of the squad and wish to give my best down the stretch.”
Piccoli named his best Serie A striker.
“It’s Moise Kean right now, considering his physical and technical skills, his speed, and power. He’s truly great and a high-level player who can aim to star on very important stages next season.”
Piccoli was quizzed about a possible Italy call-up.
“I’m thinking about working well here at Cagliari, which is paramount. You can reach the Azzurri only by faring well in your club. Luciano Spalletti is doing a great job with a young group, also achieving nice results.”
