A club’s president has ‘personally been involved’ in efforts to recruit a star from Tottenham Hotspur, with a proposal already having been put to the player and to Spurs.
The north London side have been basking in the success of winning the Europa League, but there has also been upheaval too as Ange Postecoglou was sacked and replaced with Thomas Frank.
Frank has already steered Spurs into the race for Bryan Mbeumbo, while Mathys Tel has joined on a permanent basis.
The Dane will also be expected to offload players too and midfielder Yves Bissouma is wanted by Fenerbahce.
Jose Mourinho has approved the pursuit of the player and now the club’s president Ali Koc is pushing matters forward.
According to Turkish broadcaster A Spor, Koc has ‘personally been involved’ in trying to sign Bissouma, having flown to London to meet Spurs officials and the player’s agent.
A meeting will be held with the player in the coming days, with Koc handing over to director Devin Ozek.
Fenerbahce have offered Tottenham a fee of €15m for the midfielder, while the player will receive a net salary of €5m per year.
Bissouma has also been linked with Leeds United.
Koc will hope that his trip to London and personal involvement can move the needle in Fenerbahce’s favour.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy though is known for being a tough negotiator and dealing with him can often become a tough task for clubs.
Fenerbahce will be in the Champions League qualifiers later this summer and Mourinho will be keen to have the bulk of his business done to be ready for the challenge ahead for the Yellow Canaries.
