Performance not as bad as the result says Vilahamn after Spurs’ defeat at Manchester United | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn said that his side’s performance against Manchester United was not as bad as the scoreline suggested.

The Lilywhites went down 3-0 at the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon. Elisabeth Terland netted a double late in the first half before Maya Le Tissier added a third goal from the penalty spot in the second half.

When speaking to the media after the match, Spurs boss Vilahamn remained positive about how his players performed, suggesting that the scoreline did not tell the full story.

“We started the game good,” Vilahamn said. “First 30 minutes, we were pressing very well, we created chances.

“The performance is not 3-0 bad. Performance-wise, we actually played some really good stuff, we showed that we can play some really good football. Results-wise, it’s bad; they scored three goals, we scored nil.”

Manchester United fielded two ex-Spurs players in Celin Bizet Ildhusøy and former loanee Grace Clinton. Both players provided significant contributions in The Red Devils’ victory and Vilahamn offered praise to the pair after the game.

He said “I feel like they were really good today, both of them, you can tell that they are such good footballers. They gave us some really hard moments during the game.

“I like to see where they are, I like the players and they have developed very well.”

Manchester United forward Terland netted her first goals for the club since moving to the North West over the summer. Vilahamn admitted that Terland is a top talent but he was disappointed with his side’s defending for the goals conceded.

He said “Terland is obviously very strong. Sometimes, you can say that it’s a really good number nine to score those goals but on the other hand, we need to make sure we can take the duels a little bit stronger and also stop the crosses before they come in. I guess we were a little bit unorganised in those situations.”

Tottenham Hotspur are back in action again on Sunday when they travel to Chelsea.
