Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been keen to issue heartfelt praise upon three English coaches he believes have made football a better place in their home country.

The Catalan coach has found himself at the very top of English football through his remarkable achievements with the reigning Premier League champions after what will be 11 seasons with the club when his existing contractual agreement runs its course.

Across that time, Guardiola has faced some of the most recognisable and most well-respected names and faces in the managerial scene, often ending up on the winning side on many occasions.

Among those are a number of English coaches at various levels of the football pyramid, and Pep Guardiola has never been shy to hide his admiration for their work in the game, believing that they have improved the community as a whole.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s meeting with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, Pep Guardiola was made aware of the fact that Neil Warnock was present at the club’s training facility for media duties later in the day.

“It would be a pleasure to see him again,” Guardiola said of his managerial colleague. “Neil, like Sam Allardyce, like Mr (Harry) Redknapp, have been legends in this country, have made English football a better place for sure.”

The Catalan tactician continued, “Sometimes now in modern football this type of English managers for a long time look like, and it’s not true.

“I admire them a lot for the contribution they have done in world football for different perspectives, different ways… Hopefully he doesn’t shout at me!”

Pep Guardiola and Neil Warnock have faced off against one another in both Premier League and FA Cup action, when the latter was head coach of South Wales side Cardiff City, with Manchester City emerging victorious on all three occasions.

First clashing in the fourth round of the FA Cup, City managed to record a 0-2 victory away from home in Wales in the 2017/18 campaign, before the pair would meet the following season in the English top-flight.

A comfortable 0-5 away victory for Manchester City would then be followed by a 2-0 home win against Warnock and his players ensured that Guardiola has a perfect record over his managerial colleague and acquaintance.
