Benjamin Pavard says that he “had great years at Bayern Munich” but that now he is “at Inter Milan to win everything.”

The 29-year-old spoke to UEFA, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow evening’s Champions League quarterfinal clash between his current and former teams.

Pavard joined Inter in the summer of 2023.

The Frenchman arrived after four years at Bayern Munich.

Pavard had won a slew of trophies whilst a Bayern player. These included the Bundesliga in every season that he was at the club, as well as the Champions League in 2020.

But Pavard then decided that he needed a new challenge.

And Inter offered the 2018 World Cup winner the perfect opportunity.

Pavard adapted very well to the role of wide centre-back in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 setup at the Nerazzurri.

And in his first season at the club last time out, Pavard was a pivotal player for the Nerazzurri as they won the Serie A title. That made it a streak of five straight league titles across two countries for Pavard.

Tomorrow, Benjamin Pavard will play at the Allianz Arena for the first time since leaving Bayern.

The 29-year-old admitted that “it’s very emotional for me to face Bayern.”

“I spent four fantastic years in Munich,” he continued.

“But I can’t think about all that now, because I play for Inter now. And I want to win in Germany.”

Benjamin Pavard then explained that “I knew I’d be happy playing in a back three defense here.”

“Because I wanted to play more in the centre of the defensive line.”

Then Pavard noted that “here, the watchword is ‘give and go.'”

“That’s something we do often. The coach gives us as players a lot of freedom.”

“Pavard then commented that “I’m someone who reflects, and thinks more about the team.”

“It’s true that sometimes they expect me to attack more,” added the France international. “But there are matches in which I don’t feel like it.”

“I prefer to stay back and ensure that the team has balance.”

Meanwhile, Pavard admitted that Inter “want to go all the way and win everything.”

“But we can’t start thinking about the three trophies and all of that.”

“Let’s think one match at a time. And then we’ll see what happens.”

“In any case,” Pavard said, “we’ll do everything we can.”

“We have the team, the staff, and the coach, to win as much as possible.” the Frenchman declared.

“This is the final sprint. And we have to play at our best.”
