According to Fabrice Hawkins, former Lille manager Paulo Fonseca is set to be appointed as the new manager of Olympique Lyonnais. The Portuguese head coach is set to replace the recently sacked Pierre Sage.
Fonseca is newly available after his recent dismissal as head coach of AC Milan. The Rossoneri sacked the former Shakhtar coach due to a poor run of form in Serie A, which had seen them drop way below the pacesetters in the title race. He was replaced by his compatriot and former Porto manager Sérgio Conceição at the San Siro.
Sage has been dismissed from his post after a dismal run has seen Lyon remain winless for their last 5-matches. OL owner John Textor has been in discussions with the former Milan manager for ten days, L’Équipe understands. Negotiations are progressing well between the American and Fonseca, and unless there is a turnaround, the Portuguese manager should be appointed as the new man in charge of Les Gones.
