Parma set to appoint Chivu as new coach after sacking Pecchia | OneFootball

Christian Chivu is on the verge of becoming the new head coach of Parma, who are accelerating negotiations to find a replacement for Fabio Pecchia, who was sacked on Monday.

The Gialloblu have dropped into the relegation zone in recent weeks due to a seven-match winless streak in Serie A, prompting the club to take action ahead of a challenging schedule, which includes a crucial match against rock-bottom Monza on March 16.

Parma identify Chivu as Pecchia’s replacement

While the Ducali initially seemed interested in Igor Tudor, they are said to have shifted their focus to Chivu, whose managerial experience so far is limited to Inter’s youth sides, with a three-year stint at the helm of the Primavera ending last summer.

According to Gianluca di Marzio, Chivu arrived in Parma on Monday night to talk with club directors before signing a contract with the Serie A strugglers.

The Gialloblu have not won a league game since late December and currently sit 18th, one point adrift of safety.
