Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to reshape his squad, trimming players that he does not believe fit into the club’s future plans.
Both the winger and central defender exited on loan deals but inserted buyout clauses worth a combined £6.5m; however, they will return to Glasgow after both Olympiacos and Twente decided against taking up the option. As reported by Record Sport, both players are expected to be part of the summer departures.
Palma has played 12 times in the first half of the 2024/25 season but failed to really make an impact. The player’s attitude towards training has been praised by Brendan but it was clear that the player is keen to get regular first team football. A number of teams have been linked with a move but you would expect that both the player and club would prefer a permanent move this summer.

Lagerbielke meanwhile will return, which could be due to the reported return of Robin Propper from Rangers. Despite coming back to Celtic this summer, the 25-year-old is expected to leave the club on a permanent basis and it was expected that the Dutch side would make the deal permanent, given that he impressed in 32 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting on three occasions.
Lagerbielke signed for Celtic after being recommended to the club by Carl Starfelt’s agent, who switched that summer to La Liga side Celta Vigo. The £3m switch was expected to be a replacement for his compatriot, with Maik Nawrocki also arriving in the summer. However, the Swedish central defender made just ten appearances as well as scoring one goal – the win against Feyenoord in the UCL.
