La Liga giants Real Madrid could be without the services of attacker Rodrygo for longer than first thought.
This comes after confirmation of the extent of the Brazilian international’s injury was forthcoming online.
Rodrygo was forced into a premature departure from Real’s La Liga meeting with Osasuna on Saturday, after pulling up with a muscular concern during the first-half.
After he was put through a round of ensuing medical tests, an update on the wellbeing of the 23-year-old was in turn forthcoming on Monday.
As per a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Rodrygo, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus abdominis muscle in his left leg.’
Prior to as much being announced, the hope was that Rodrygo would be sidelined for a period of around three to four weeks.
If ensuing word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then this estimate appears to have been optimistic at best.
As per a report from Madrid-based outlet El Chiringuito TV, the frontman, in fact, may not take to the pitch again until early 2025.
As much would mean Rodrygo sitting out fixtures against all of Leganés, Liverpool, Getafe, Athletic Club, Girona, Atalanta, Rayo Vallecano, and Sevilla.
