Ousmane Dembélé becomes the new favourite to win the Ballon d’Or | OneFootball

After PSG qualified for the UEFA Champions League final, Ousmane Dembélé (27) has now become the new bookmakers’ favourite to win the Ballon d’Or. The 27-year-old has moved into favouritism after fellow contenders suffered a blow in their bid to win the award issued by France Football.

The former favourite to win the award, which recognises a player as the greatest on earth, was Lamine Yamal (17) of Barcelona. The Spanish international winger’s hopes of winning the Ballon d’Or took a hit after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stages at the hands of Inter. PSG will face the Serie A outfit in the final.

Dembélé has emerged as the new favourite, thanks to his chance to achieve what Yamal cannot — win the UEFA Champions League. It’s already been an outstanding season for the France international, who has captured a Ligue 1 title and recorded 33 goals and 13 assists in 46 appearances so far. With PSG still in contention for both the Coupe de France and the Champions League, Dembélé’s remarkable campaign could become even more impressive.
