Ahead of Brazil’s crucial Copa America 2024 encounter against Colombia, midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has come out and praised the Real Madrid duo of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes.

The two Real Madrid forwards came under some criticism after Brazil’s slow start to the competition as they were held to a goalless draw by Costa Rica in their Copa America opener.

But, the Selecao bounced back in style beating Paraguay 4-1 in their next game, with Vinicius scoring a brace.

Now, speaking to the media ahead of the Colombia clash, Bruno Guimaraes has come out in praise of the Real Madrid pair, claiming that Vinicius and Rodrygo are like the current Brazil team’s versions of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho.

“Vini and Rodrygo are our Ronaldo and Ronaldinho,” he said, as quoted by AS.

“When I was a kid I was in love with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka. We want to bring that back with Vini, Rodrygo, etc,” he added.

While the comparisons are very lofty, it must be noted that Vinicius and Rodrygo are two of the biggest names in the current Brazil setup and have a lot riding on them in this Copa America.

With no Neymar, Vinicius has emerged as the face of this Brazil setup and the responsibility of leading the line as the centre-forward has fallen on Rodrygo’s shoulders, who has been handed the No. 10 shirt at the competition.

As they come up against Colombia in their next game, Dorival Junior’s side will look up to the Real Madrid attacking duo to deliver the goods and help them go further in the competition in the USA.

A strong run at the Copa America would also enhance Vinicius’ chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, where he is battling Real Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe.
