Our Favorite Kits from the 2025 Icarus Cup

Icarus Football is celebrating the fifth Icarus Cup with a bevy of incredibly unique jersey designs. We pick our 12 favorites (not including ours, of course).

Once a year, amateur footballers from across the country converge upon Philadelphia to take part in a glorious celebration of the game that’s one part tournament and one part festival: The Icarus Cup.

Now in its fifth installment, it is the flagship event from Icarus Football, creators of some of the most original custom soccer jerseys in the world, and it’s only right that the brand did things big for the five-year anniversary.

Set to take place from July 11-13, you can expect live music, beer gardens, food trucks, and all around good vibes, in addition to the competition itself, which features five different divisions including open, co-ed, women’s inclusive, over-30, and over-40. It’s a one-of-a-kind event for all lovers of the beautiful game.

As it’s thrown by a custom jersey brand, a major centerpiece of the Icarus Cup is the jerseys themselves. Icarus designed 80 jerseys for the tournament, and this year’s overarching theme is textiles from around the world.

We were lucky enough to get another Urban Pitch-sponsored design, and once again, Icarus knocked it out of the park. A striking pattern and bold purple and red color scheme is reminiscent of Fiorentina’s finest shirts, and it’s the most aggressive UP x Icarus jersey yet (check out previous editions).

With ours out of the way, let’s look at 12 of our favorite looks from the 2025 Icarus Cup.

Lotus

Sponsor: FourFourTwo

With a lotus flower large-scale print and red and green color scheme inspired by the historic flags of Siam, this is Icarus’ take on a Thai national team kit, and it’s beautiful. Simple yet striking, it’s easily one of the best Icarus Cup kit designs we’ve seen from over the years. One of the most well-known footy publications in the world, it’s only right that FourFourTwo gets a banger like this.

Hajfell

Sponsor: Paffuto

One thing we’ve come to love about the Icarus Cup is the showcase of local eateries from across Philadelphia. Paffuto is an Italian cafe that specializes in panzerotti — essentially handheld calzones or Italy’s answer to the empanada. Their kit features a step-and-repeat snowflake pattern inspired by Scandinavian sweaters, and with a lilac base and maroon accents, it’s a winning color scheme.

Shometsu

Sponsor: Loretta’s

Another Philly cafe, Loretta’s serves up sweet and savory pastries in the Head House Square neighborhood. And they get a fittingly delicious design that is created out of a Japanese wood block print of a traditional mon that dates back thousands of years. Add to that a polo v-neck collar and it’s an easy pick for this list.

Comtal

All-over patterns have become a staple of Icarus’ design toolbox, and it’s executed to perfection on this kit for Libertee Grounds, a pub complete with two mini-golf courses, a golf simulator, and game room. The inspiration for this design comes from FC Barcelona — and while upon first glance that might come as a surprise, a closer look reveals blaugrana stripes throughout the design, which creates a nice contrast to the brown base color.

Gazlama

Sponsor: Mural City Cellars

The traditonal Ikat pattern from Uzbekistan is the reference point of this design for Mural City Cellars, a winery that uses locally-sourced grapes from small farms. While the pattern is striking by itself, the bright shades of pink really caught our eyes as the star of the show here.

Nørrebro

Sponsor: Carbon Copy

Starring a young Mads Mikkelsen, the 1996 crime thriller Pusher serves as the design inspo for this shirt. A track jacket featured in the film is the basis for the unique pattern that features multiple panels of blue and white, a polo collar, and sponsor logo from Philly brewery Carbon Copy.

Garden Party

Sponsor: Fresh Coast FC

Drawing from Icarus’ ties to its hometown, American Revolution-era quilt patterns feature on top of a traditional blue-and-red-striped base. Fresh Coast FC, longtime Icarus Cup participants, get the logo treatment here, and while they’ll miss out on this year’s tournament, they’ll be there in spirit with this, ahem, fresh design.

Kowloon

Sponsor: Athleta Mag

Italian-based and photography-driven, aesthetics are incredibly important to Athleta Mag, who have been cooking up some of the most beautiful sports and culture coverage over the past few years. Their jersey matches their overall vibe, with a large graphic print inspired by Chinese symbols and brooding colorway that features dark shades of brown and maroon.

Montmorency

Sponsor: Bloomsday

In Icarus’ words, this is their submission for the next CF Montreal kit. And it certainly beats anything that the MLS club has pushed out in recent years. Featuring a logo from Philly restaurant and wine bar Bloomsday, this was a major standout amongst this year’s designs.

Timbuktu

Nine Magazine’s kit from last year was amongst our favorites, and they’re back in 2025 with a stellar design inspired by Bògòlanfini, a Malian dye process that uses fermented mud. The pattern has been used in various tapestries, quilts, and traditional garb, and can now check off the football shirt box.

Barong

Sponsor: Scampi

I picked this shirt simply because I loved the pattern and color scheme, but when I found out that it was inspired by patterns and textures found on traditional Filipino Barong shirts, it all made sense. I’m half-Filipino, and it must’ve been my ancestors communicating to me from the afterlife to make sure that we were represented on this list somehow. Also known as the “Filipino tuxedo,” the Barong Tagalog is worn in formal settings and is commonly seen in weddings. Philly-based seafood restaurant Scampi gets the logo for this kit.

Eiru

Sponsor: New York Life

Icarus’ ode to the Irish Pub, the pattern on this kit wouldn’t be out of place on the walls of your go-to locale for Champions League lunches. The bright hits of orange and emerald stand out elegantly against the navy base, and the New York Life logo, while quite corporate, somehow fits in seamlessly.
