Leila Ouahabi says she was impressed with City's resilience and determination against a tricky Brighton side.

Nick Cushing’s side recorded a 2-1 triumph at the Broadfield Stadium after a hard-fought battle on the south coast.

After a battling first-half effort, we found ourselves ahead as Kerstin Casparij opened the scoring and recorded her first WSL goal of the season.

A committed second-half performance saw us fight to the line as Gracie Prior put her body in the way to stop a Brighton equaliser before Vivianne Miedema’s 90th minute strike doubled our lead.

Brighton pulled a goal back through Charlize Rule's effort in the closing stages, but we held on for three precious points as our quest for Champions League qualification continued.

Speaking post-match, Ouahabi explained why it was good to be tested by a strong Seagulls side.

She said: “It was a hard game, but I'm happy to get the important three points and the team played. It was hard sometimes, but it's normal.

"We've played a lot of games this month, but I'm happy because we the important thing was to get the three points.

"I'm happy for them [Prior and Layzell], they played really well and they did a great job. I'm proud of our players because it was a very hard month and I'm happy and proud for all of them.”

We now head into an international break before returning to FA Cup action against Manchester United, but Ouahabi believes City need to rest and recuperate following eight matches alone in March.

She added: "I'm very tired to be fair! Now, we need to recover and focus on the next games.

"We are professional players, we need to prepare for our national countries. I'm happy to be with my country and with City. We just need to recover well and be ready for the next games."
