Manchester City forward Oscar Bobb appears to have taken a step forward in overcoming a knock sustained against Brighton.

The 22-year-old’s availability has been a growing concern for Pep Guardiola after he was forced to undergo scans with Norway following Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 defeat at the Amex Stadium.

Bobb, who only recently returned from a long-term leg injury that ruled him out for much of last season, has been central to Pep Guardiola’s early-season plans as Manchester City prepare to navigate a busy calendar in both domestic and European competition.

Norway boss Ståle Solbakken admitted earlier this week there was doubt over Bobb’s involvement during the break, casting uncertainty on whether he would feature for the national side.

Solbakken confirmed that the winger had been assessed after the clash with Brighton but insisted his camp would remain hopeful of positive news from medical checks. The injury scare also followed a wider theme of fitness setbacks within Manchester City’s squad.

Rayan Ait-Nouri withdrew from Algeria duty to recover from a recent knock, while both Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly pulled out of England Under-21 action. Abdukodir Khusanov also suffered a muscular problem against Brighton, with Uzbekistan later confirming a short-term lay-off.

Now, in new photos issued by the Norwegian national team this week, Oscar Bobb appears to have trained as normal despite having undertaken scans on a problem sustained during the weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton with Manchester City.

For Manchester City, Oscar Bobb’s participation in full training is a welcome development, particularly with Pep Guardiola already juggling multiple absences across his squad.

The Catalan coach has repeatedly stressed the importance of building rhythm and confidence in younger players such as Bobb, who impressed during the early stages of the brand new campaign and has been trusted with significant minutes.

Looking ahead, Guardiola will be hoping Norway handle the 22-year-old with caution during the break to ensure he returns fully fit for Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures. With crunch matches on the horizon, including a Manchester derby and the start of the Champions League group stage, any setback for Bobb could further complicate Guardiola’s tactical plans.

If the winger emerges unscathed from international duty, it could represent a turning point in his fitness trajectory following last year’s misfortune. But with City already contending with a mounting injury list, his situation will likely be monitored closely by both club and country.
