Only the paperwork is standing between the official move of Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros to Dutch giants Ajax after a major development.
The Amsterdam side, who have former Liverpool assistant John Heitinga as their new boss, want to snap up the Reds goalkeeper to add to their options between the sticks for next season.
A deal has been worked upon by both sides and now the finishing line is in sight following real progress.
According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, Ajax have now reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool to sign Jaros on loan.
Now only the paperwork and a medical for the goalkeeper stand between him and the move to Amsterdam.
Ajax are now looking at when would be best for the 23-year-old’s medical check to be held.
At present, the Dutch giants are considering either Tuesday or Wednesday as the best days, as they look to complete the loan capture.
Jaros is viewed as a big goalkeeping talent on Merseyside and Ajax are signing him on the recommendation of new boss Heitinga.
Arne Slot handed him an outing in the Premier League last season, against Crystal Palace, while he was on the bench for a further eleven top flight games, as well as playing in the EFL Cup.
Liverpool, who currently have Alisson as their number 1, will be looking to see how Jaros does playing for a top European club and with the pressure of having to win the Dutch title.
The Reds believe that Ajax’s style of football should suit Jaros, while they also know he can play in the Champions League in Amsterdam.
Ajax were pipped to the Dutch title by PSV Eindhoven in the recent season and Heitinga will be expected to get them back on top next term.
Liverpool did recently bring in a new young goalkeeper in the shape of Hungarian Armin Pecsi, who has been capped at Under-21 level by Hungary.
