Erik ten Hag vowed he will turn around Manchester United’s goalscoring struggles following their goalless draw with Aston Villa.

United have scored just five times in seven Premier League games this season, tied second worst with Crystal Palace and more than only Southampton.

They also struggled for goals last season, ranking only joint ninth for goals scored in the Premier League with 57.

But the United boss has backed his side to start scoring at a higher rate.

“Sometimes it’s the form, Rasmus Hojlund has just come into the season and is not up too 100% match fitness,” he said.

“He is our goalscorer, I would say our best goalscorer, but also others we know can score goals like Rashford. He scored in Porto and had a good assist in Porto.

“Today he created two very good chances. I think Garnacho all season is a threat but also scoring and assisting.

“Bruno also has the ability to score goals so we will get there. We trust the players and one day it will click.”
