One member of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona did not manage even a minute of game time across the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
The player in question? Iñaki Peña.
Goalkeeper Peña of course finds himself in a hugely trying situation at present.
After at one point last season emerging as first-choice between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad, the Spaniard has since fallen behind both Joan García and Wojciech Szczęsny in the pecking order.
Should Marc-André ter Stegen stay put through the close of the summer window, upon the German’s return to fitness, Peña will then be bumped down to fourth-choice.
And as alluded to above, the lack of faith in the talents of the 26-year-old on the part of Hansi Flick and his staff was reiterated during the club’s pre-season tour.
Peña, for his part, did not take to the pitch for a single minute across Barca’s outings against Vissel Kobe, FC Seoul, and FC Daegu.
The recovering Marc Bernal is the only other Blaugrana player to have endured a completely fruitless tour of Asia.
