Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski is already eyeing up the next meeting with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, following their 0-4 win against the Champions on Saturday.

England international James Maddison moved Tottenham into a commanding 0-2 lead inside 20 minutes despite Manchester City showing their recent trend of starting strong in matches they have ultimately lost, and not taking their chances.

The second-half would follow a similar pattern of play as City failed to break the deadlock and Spurs showed plenty of quality in transition and on the counter-attack, as former Etihad full-back Pedro Porro sealed the win.

The scoring would not stop there however, as a fresh Timo Werner breezed past Kyle Walker on the left for Tottenham, sliding the ball across the face of goal and into the path of Brennan Johnson for a simple tap-in.

Before the game, Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski insisted that it was his favourite contest of the year given Spurs’ recent performances at the Etihad Stadium, and the attacker was keen to reflect on those comments afterwards.

Speaking to reporters after the game, the Sweden international reiterated his belief that Spurs would come out on top whilst also highlighting the game as ‘the best result ever’ across the entirety of his career to date.

“I believed (we would win) this because in the past years, we’ve come here and played really well,” the 24-year-old admitted. “So this is the game I look forward to most in the year and, once again, it happened – glory to God.”

He continued, “I’d say it’s the best result ever in my career. It’s a big night for the whole club, for the coach, for the players. Because City have a lot of the ball sometimes, we can rest when we defend. There’s also so much space up there, we play one against one and then it’s always dangerous because we have a lot of quality.

“It’s always great to play great teams because they always want to play football. When you play lower teams, sometimes it’s not. There’s not much football played because they are a lot of fouls, a lot of injuries and it’s slow going.”

Manchester City will be eyeing an immediate return to victories this week as they take on Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League before travelling to Anfield on Sunday afternoon for a meeting against Arne Slot’s table-topping Liverpool.
