Sunderland are set to continue their summer signing spree after agreeing a deal for defender Omar Alderete.

Régis Le Bris's side have already made 10 first team signings during the transfer window as they look to stay in the Premier League this season.

According to Nizaar Kinsella of BBC Sport, Sunderland have agreed an initial £10 million for the Paraguayan with the potential of a further £900,000 in add-ons.

Alderete began his career with Cerro Porteño in Paraguay, before plying his trade in Argentina, Switzerland, and Germany.

Following a loan spell with Valencia, Alderete joined Getafe on loan from Hertha for the 2022/23 season, a deal that was later made permanent.

Should the transfer go through as expected, Alderete could potentially make his debut for Sunderland when the Premier League season kicks off on Saturday with the Black Cats beginning their campaign at home to West Ham United.
