New Empoli attacker Ola Solbakken met with the media for the first time since he joined the club on loan from Roma.

Solbakken, 25, joined the Tuscans last week and made his official debut against Monza last Saturday when he came on midway through the second half.

“Last season wasn’t perfect due to some injuries, but now I’m happy to be here at Empoli,” began the Norwegian.

“I’m eager to get on the pitch and give my contribution. In the last match against Monza, I contributed both defensively and offensively, creating some chances. Essentially, I’m a winger, but more generally, I’m a player who operates in the attacking areas.”

Adding, “I believe Empoli is the right place to show my worth.”

The attacker also dismissed suggestions he’ll struggle to settle-in given it’s his third loan move within the past year.

“There won’t be any issues adapting here in Empoli, which is a small city, something I’m used to as a Norwegian. Of course, there’s a difference because Rome is a very large city, but my first impression has been very positive.”

Finally, Solbakken commented on this weekend’s league clash between his side and parent club Roma—the two teams scheduled to face-off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

“It will be a very tough match because we’re up against a great team with excellent players,” he stated.

“Obviously the game will take place in a very unique atmosphere given it’s at the Olimpico. Roma is an important team, but we need to play a great match and try to bring home a positive result.”
