Not only are OGC Nice set to hold on to Jonathan Clauss (32), despite the best attempts of Bayer Leverkusen, but they are also set to add depth in the position.

As per a report from L’Équipe, Nice are closing in on Benfica’s Tiago Gouveia (24). The former Portugal U21 international is a right-winger by trade, but is also capable of playing at wing-back. That is a position where Le Gym have been keen to add some depth this summer.

The 24-year-old, under contract at Benfica until 2028, is the subject of talks between the two clubs, who faced each other earlier this month in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds. They are discussing a loan deal for Gouveia. The loan would include a buy option, thought to be valued at around €8m, as per L’Équipe. However, Nice would be under no obligation to trigger that clause come the end of the season.
