This afternoon, AC Milan have reported that Luka Jovic has undergone surgery to attempt to sort out the continued hernia problem he has been facing recently.
It has been a difficult season for Jovic, and in fairness, it probably could have been very different. Milan initially renewed the Serbian’s contract in the summer, but the additions of Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata made it difficult for him to get first team minutes, and this is without even considering Francesco Camarda’s growth.
So, at the end of the mercato, the club made attempts to offload the striker, but nothing came to fruition, leaving him sidelined. In recent weeks, he has been sidelined quite literally, as he has been suffering with a sports hernia.
As a result of this, the club have allowed him to have an operation in Belgrade – where tests found that he had a hernia – and he was accompanied by the Rossoneri’s medical staff, as reported by the club this afternoon.
In the release, it states that he will remain in Belgrade for eight days to recover before travelling back to Milanello to begin his rehab, which should take around four weeks.
Given the heavy interest in the striker from Galatasaray, perhaps we have already seen the last of him in a Rossoneri shirt.
