Official: Kylian Mbappé absent as Xabi Alonso names first Real Madrid XI

The first XI selected by Xabi Alonso as new Real Madrid manager has on Wednesday evening been unveiled.
This, of course, comes ahead of Los Blancos’ return to action in short order.
After a hugely disappointing campaign in 2024/25, Real Madrid have been afforded an immediate chance to get back on track, courtesy of a spot at the newly-formatted Club World Cup.
The capital giants will kick their endeavours at the tournament into gear later this evening, in a meeting with Saudi outfit Al-Hilal.
A short time ago, the group of players selected by the latest installation on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu was, in turn, revealed online.
Xabi Alonso’s first line-up as Real Madrid boss can be seen below, featuring the likes of summer signings Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, as well as the transfer-linked Rodrygo:
Turning attentions towards those missing from Los Merengues’ squad in Miami, the most noteworthy comes in the form of Kylian Mbappé, who has failed to recover from a bout of illness in time to play his part against Al-Hilal.
