Juventus have officially completed their transfer for Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly for a total fee of €17.5m plus bonuses.
The centre-back flew in last night and underwent his medical tests this morning at the J-Medical centre.
A formal statement confirmed the financial details of the agreement, as Juventus will pay a €3m fee for the loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy if certain easy to achieve conditions are met in July 2025 for a further €14.5m.
On top of that, there are up to €3m in performance-related bonuses, with €2m believed to be quite difficult to activate.
“Given the high probability of the conditions for the player’s acquisition being achieved, this transaction for accounting purposes, qualifies as a definitive acquisition effective from today for a total amount of €17.5m, plus additional costs.”

There were some doubts that the move would be delayed or even scuppered by red tape issues, seeing as getting a work permit from an English player is no longer covered by EU freedom of movement rules following Brexit.
However, those problems were resolved this afternoon and the transfer completed.
The 26-year-old is just the latest January signing for Juventus after Renato Veiga from Chelsea, Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain and Alberto Costa from Vitoria Guimaraes.
