In a busy week for Borussia Dortmund bosses, the Black and Yellows confirmed the permanent transfer of Fabio Silva from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Multiple reports mentioned the transfer fee is around €25 million, including bonuses.
“We needed a lot of patience to assert our ideas, and are now happy to have committed a player with great potential in Fabio Silva,” said director of sport Lars Ricken after the signing.
“Fabio brings a lot of quality that can be used flexibly in several positions. All this and the fact that he is a success-driven striker make this transfer very valuable for us,” added Sebastian Kehl.
“To sign for a club like Borussia Dortmund is something very special for me,” said the striker who featured once for the Portugal national team. “This club has an enormous charisma, not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. I know BVB as a passionate club with incredible fans. I want to settle in quickly, give everything, and do my part to ensure that we are successful as a team.”
Silva joined Wolves from Porto for €40 million at the age of 18, but he only scored five goals for the club. He had loan spells in four different clubs, including at Las Palmas last season, but his 10 league goals didn’t save the club from relegation. Dortmund completed two signings from Chelsea the other day.
