An official Everton injury update on Friday afternoon.

This coming ahead of the final match of the season away at Newcastle United.

David Moyes confirming that neither Jarrad Branthwaite or Seamus Coleman will be available for the Newcastle game.

Right-back Coleman is also Everton’s captain.

Whilst Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski are Everton’s first choice central defenders, an area of the team that has been their biggest strength this season.

Branthwaite is Everton’s best player and biggest asset but will miss this final game of the season, whist Tarkowski was last month ruled out for the rest of this season after picking up an injury of his own.

‘Jarrad Branthwaite and Seamus Coleman will miss Everton’s final-day clash with Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Blues head to St James’ Park for a 4pm (BST) kick-off, knowing a 13th-placed finish is guaranteed after last weekend’s 2-0 home win over Southampton, and Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Wolves all failed to win.

Branthwaite and Coleman were both forced off during Goodison Park’s last-ever Premier League game with hamstring and thigh issues respectively – and boss David Moyes has confirmed neither will be available this weekend.

Speaking in Friday’s pre-match press conference at Finch Farm, Moyes said: “Jarrad is injured and won’t be available. He’ll be out for four or five weeks with his hamstring [injury]. It’s a big loss but we have to live with it.

“Seamus has a thigh strain so he won’t be available, either.”

James Tarkowski (groin), Jesper Lindstrøm (hernia) and Orel Mangala (knee) also remained unavailable for the Toffees.

It has been confirmed Abdoulaye Doucoure, Ashley Young, Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia will all leave when their current contracts expire at the end of next month.
