Official EFL announcement – Referee and VAR named for 2025 Carabao Cup Final | OneFootball

The match referee and VAR have been revealed for the 2025 Carabao Cup Final.

Only 12 days now until Liverpool v Newcastle United at Wembley.

An official EFL announcement (see below) naming John Brooks as the match referee.

He sent Virgil van Dijk off at St James’ Park back in August 2023, the Liverpool defender somehow wanting to claim Brooks had got it wrong, when it was actually the easiest of decisions. Hopefully he will be waving his red card at Virgil van Dijk once again on Sunday 16 March.

The VAR is Stuart Attwell, who was the on the pitch referee last Wednesday at Anfield, when Liverpool won 2-0 against Newcastle United.
