Official: Chelsea’s opponents for first Club World Cup match finally confirmed

Chelsea will face Los Angeles FC in the Club World Cup after the MLS side beat Club Club America in a play-off to qualify for the competition.
The newly expanded competition begins on June 14th and runs until July 13th with 32 of the best teams in the world taking part.
Los Angeles FC join Chelsea in Group D of the competition alongside Brazilian side Flamengo and Tunisian outfit Es Tunis.
Chelsea are expecting Enzo Maresca to go on a deep run in the competition and it represents another opportunity for the Blues to get their hands on silverware after their Conference League triumph.
The likes of Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo are expected to make their debut in the competition and Chelsea are hoping new signing Liam Delap will also feature.

The Blues are expected to ask Delap to pick the Club World Cup over representing England at the European Under-21 Championships.
Chelsea’s first match will take place against Los Angeles FC on June 16th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which will see them come up against former striker Olivier Giroud.
If the Blues make it the final will take place on July 13th at the MetLife Stadium in New York, which promises to be quite the spectacle
Chelsea now have ten days to sign players if they want to be able to register them for the competition with a special transfer window now open.

With a deal already done for Delap it will be interesting to see if Chelsea look to enter the market to add to their squad for the competition.
The Blues have been linked with Hugo Ekitike as well as Nico Williams, Jamie Gittens and Jarrad Branthwaite, but it remains to be seen if they will move for any of them in the next ten days.
