In some big breaking news this Wednesday lunchtime, Chelsea have just confirmed that one of their highly rated players has just signed a new long-term contract.

It’s a story that has been in the news in the last couple of months and for Chelsea fans, a bit of news that you could not get away from even if you wanted to.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea ‘seriously consider’ January approach for Premier League centre back!!

The story began with the club harshly freezing out an academy player because he was yet to agree to sign a new contract at the club. It was reported that Josh Acheampong would not play or train at Chelsea again in any capacity until he agreed to a new contract.

Well, the harsh treatment seemed to work, and it has finally now been made official that he has signed a new deal after a reported breakthrough last week.

Acheampong played again for Chelsea last Thursday night against Astana, which was the tell tell sign that a breakthrough had been reached. However, there was yet to be any official confirmation, but now it has come.

Acheampong signs!

Acheampong signs new contract!

As per the official Chelsea website just now, Acheampong has signed a new contract at the club until 2029!

Acheampong was even on the bench against Brentford on Sunday and is seemingly a very highly rated player at the club. He is only 18 but there is already a lot of buzz surrounding his development and potential at Chelsea.

He will be once again hoping to start tomorrow night’s game against Shamrock Rovers at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea continue their Conference League campaign. I’d be very surprised if the young defender does not start tomorrow, especially after this news coming out today now as well.

The Blues have yet another gem here.
