Lukas Daschner’s move away from the Bundesliga has been officially confirmed. The Duisburg-native moves abroad for the first time in his career after his current club, VfL Bochum, organised a six-month-loan to Swiss side St. Gallen. The Swiss outfit itself confirm that a purchase option is part of the deal, but an actual figure remains lacking.
Daschner – who maintains an estimated market value of €1.2m – logged three quarters of his minutes for Bochum this season under previous head coach Peter Zeidler. Dieter Hecking found little to no use for the former Duisburg and St. Pauli man. The Revierklub’s recent signing of Georgios Masouras rendered him unlikely to be used again this season.
“We’ve had our eye on Lukas for quite a while and now we’ve managed to get him to join our club,” St. Gallen head-of-sport Roger Stilz noted in a club statement, “Lukas has a great deal of experience from the top two leagues in Germany. With his technique, his footballing intelligence and his creativity, he will be a great addition to our team and our game. We are delighted that we were able to convince him of our project.”
