Bayer Leverkusen have announced that they have completed the signing of Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven.
The fee for the 23-year-old is €35 million due to a release clause in his contract with the Dutch champions. It was previously reported that Bayern Munich may have had a buy-back clause at the same price, but they chose not to activate it.
Tillman returns to Germany, signing a contract until 2030. The attacking midfielder was previously in the Bayern academy from 2015 until 2023, where he would move to PSV initially on loan, before then on a permanent basis a year later.
On moving to Leverkusen, Tillman said:
“This club has always played great football. But in the last four or five years Leverkusen have grown enormously and become attractive to a lot of players throughout Europe. I want to win something. That was my aim in Glasgow and in Eindhoven and it remains my aim here,”
Die Werkself have been very active in the transfer market as they continue to refresh their squad. Before the signing of Tillman, Leverkusen had already signed Jarell Quansah (Liverpool, €35m), Ibrahim Maza (Hertha Berlin, €12m) and Mark Flekken (Brentford, €10m) who will have an immediate impact on the starting eleven, as well as Axel Tape (PSG, free), Abdoulaye Faye (Hacken, €2.7m) and Christian Kofane (Albacete, €5m) who are signings for the future.
They are set not to stop there as they look to continue boosting their attacking options with Tillman’s PSV teammate Johan Bakayoko a target.
