Official: Barcelona star beats Real Madrid’s Arda Güler to Kopa Trophy | OneFootball

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has on Monday evening secured for himself a prestigious individual award.

This comes amid confirmation that the Spanish international, still just 17, has beaten out the competition to clinch the Kopa Trophy.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony is of course currently taking place in Paris, France.

The biggest prize of the night, the Golden Ball itself, is yet to be handed out, albeit with the widespread understanding being that Manchester City midfielder Rodri has beaten Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr. to the title of world’s best player.

As alluded to above, though, a short time ago, the winner of the Kopa Trophy was made official.

The Kopa is handed out on an annual basis by France Football to the best performing player across world football aged 21 or younger.

And, this time round, the award has gone the way of Lamine Yamal.

Fresh off nothing short of an explosion onto the world stage over the course of the last 12 months, wide-man Lamine is now considered not only a guaranteed starter at club level with Barcelona, but on the international stage, too.

As much culminated in the attacker playing a starring role for Spain, en route to glory at the European Championships this past summer.

Since followed by a scintillating start to the new campaign with Barca, too, Lamine, in turn, has on Monday deservedly joined Blaugrana teammates Gavi and Pedri in securing France Football’s famed Kopa Trophy.

The youngster finished top of the pile in the voting, ahead of Real Madrid counterpart Arda Güler in 2nd:
